We peddled the 5 or so miles to Stuart one day, to check it out. Stuart's small downtown area started a revitalization 20 years ago. Today the downtown streets are lined with shops, galleries and restaurants. The area is located along US Route 1, right near the St. Lucie River.
We parked our bikes along the water, at the end of a street, and set out for a place to eat lunch. We followed our noses, the Buffett music, and the great smells, to Key Lime Cafe. It's a really cool place with outside seating. Each table has it's own thatched umbrella..Scott was taking notes! The food was great, and so was the sangria...we'll definitely return!
After our bellies were full, we wandered around a bit, and checked out some of the shops. We noticed a tram parked in the town circle; it said "free shuttle". We wondered how far the free shuttle went...could we load our bikes on and get a ride home? As we walked by, the driver asked us if we were tired of walking. Turns out, Don, gives free tours of the town, as well as shuttles people from the public lot nearby. We hopped on, and Don gave us a tour of Stuart that lasted about 40 minutes. As well as being interesting, we also got a larger view of the Stuart area. Here are some photos we took along Don's tour.
