Goodbye Florida...Hello Georgia

We have officially left Florida, and warmer weather. :( The temps are back into the high 60s- loew 70s, but the days are still bright and sunny, so that's helping our transition. Just like in North Florida, Georgia is full of stronger currents and larger tidal changes.

As usual, the winds were kicking up pretty well(blowing like stink, as we heard one boater say, over the radio). We were charted to cross St. Andrew's Sound yesterday. To travel across the channel in the sound, you have to go practically into the ocean, and come back in. The waves were running at about seven feet out there, so we were really looking for a way around it. Luckily, I'm traveling with a captain who is a crack navigator , and he found us an alternate route. We traveled through three or four different creeks, and crossed two or three rivers. Luckily, it was a very high tide, or we would have been stuck in mud. We were going through waters that Scott said he'd be nervous taking his John Boat through. Seascape looked ridiculously large weaving her way through the narrow channel. One minute, we'd be in 25 feet of water, and the next...4!

As usual, my captain got us through without a hitch, and we were soon back on the official Intracoastal route. We anchored in Jove Creek for the night. Here, it was just us and the marsh critters. It was a silent night, compared to our anchorages the past few weeks...eerily calm. This am, we had some trouble getting our anchors out of the thick, goopy Georgia mud. With the currents, tidal ranges, and mud, it's more like Georgia on my last nerve! Luckily, the state had a short coastline, and we'll be in the Carolinas by week's end.

Just a couple of photos.
