Heading to Charleston

We got some outside driving time today, from up on the flybridge. It was short, but sweet, with 65 degree temps. and sun. The view is much better up there, and the fresh air was great. The houses get more and more sparse and less and less ostentatious in this area. The piers get very, very long. I can't imagine the hike out to a boat here!

I finally got my first dolphin picture today. We've seen a lot so far, but they are pretty elusive when it comes to a photo. The sunshine and clearer water helped, as did taking it from up on the flybridge. I hope to get some better ones as we go farther south.

We're at anchor tonight in Whiteside Creek, on our way to Charleston for the weekend. The creek is FULL of oyster beds, we're surrounded by them. They are so visible because of the low tide right now. The tidal difference here is five feet. So at high tide, the beds and surrounding grasses won't be visible. With all of the Chesapeake Bay's oyster problems, it's is really interesting to see SO many beds here, with SO many oysters. At first, you think that the shoreline is rocky, but at closer glance, you realize it's all oysters.

We have the area to ourselves, as no one else has shown up to anchor tonight. By the way, Scott has checked, and the sun goes down 28 minutes later here. We'll take all the daylight we can get!
Here are today's pictures. Tomorrow, we roll into Charleston!
