Daytona Beach to Titusville

We planned to leave this am at 7-7:30, but the fog was so thick, we couldn't even try it until 9. Even then, we had a slow go at times. The fog would come and go, and when it came..it was THICK. Scott drove from downstairs today,so he could use his radar in the fog. Once the sun burned off the fog for good, it was another beautiful day. The temperatures are warmer than normal for this time of year....we'll take it!

Along the way, we caught up with John again, the man traveling solo from New Jersey in an 18' sailboat. It was good to see him, as we were wondering how he'd been faring on some of the windy days. Mary Elizabeth, from Annapolis, followed behind us today, too.

Scott planned for us to anchor in and area called the "Manatee Playground". When we arrived, it was clear that we couldn't anchor there; not enough room. So we left the chance to play with the manatees, and kept south for another hour or so; we anchored at Titusville. Once anchored, Scott got in the water, to check on our rudder anode. He knew it was close to needing replacing, and he was right. The water was still pretty chilly, but he perservered and measured the part under the boat.

We read that there was a West Marine in town, so we dingyed over to shore and to make the walk. We stopped along the way, to chat with John, he was making plans to use the marina's shower. He told us that he was very glad to see warmer temperatures! We got to West Marine, and they had the part, so Scott can replace it tomorrow.

Here are today's pictures.
