Yesterday, on Sunday, we arrived at Marina Cay, where we'll be spending the time while Scott goes to school. The marina is located in the Manatee Pocket, which is off of the St. Lucie Inlet. The intracoastal, the St. Lucie River, and the Atlantic all converge here, so it was quite a crowded place. As we came through the inlet yesterday, you'd think it was mid-July on the Chesapeake. There were SO many boats, all sizes, all over the place. I'm sure the weather, and the fact that it was a Sunday, added to the crowd.
Our slip was pretty tricky to get into. It's very narrow, and the water here isn't very deep. Once again, Scott made it look easy; he really knows his boat. Ritchie greeted us, and gave us the 411 on the marina. It's just a short walk to the laundry room, and to the POOL! There's also a clubhouse; we're hoping to get in to see it.
We took a short ride yesterday, to start to get the lay of the land. Within a 3 mile bike ride, is almost anything we need(restaurants, stores, bank, post office, etc); we'll explore a bit more in the coming days. We also took a ride though the property where Scott will be taking his classes. He went there today to talk to them. A few of the instructors live in the development where the marina is located, so we hope to reap some neighborhood "perks"!
The weather has been fabulous. We've been scared about the cold front coming through, but the "cold" is 64 degrees, so I think we can rough it. The winds are kicking up pretty good today, but everything is supposed to settle down tomorrow. The forecast for the rest of the week is for low 80s. We hope to spend some time on Christmas Day at the pool!
We can't believe that our trip down is over so fast! Time flew by, and the trip went so smoothly. We had some unexpected weather in the beginning, and of course some equally unexpected repairs, but it all worked out fine one way or another. Scott did an amazing job getting us here. He was, if anything, over prepared, and it certainly paid off in an amazing and enjoyable trip. It was also a great learning experience, too! Now, after a break for his class, Scott will start planning the leg to the Keys and Key West, before we head for home. We hope to leave after the surveying program is over. Until then, we're residents of Stuart, Fl.!
I'll post some pictures soon. I'll also be keeping the blog updated while we're here, so keep checking in! Have a wonderful holiday!!

Blog? more like big fat blook.
The trip of a lifetime. I've never seen a parade of so many cool places. Can I shove myself and my wife and kids on the boat and join in the ways of a sailors life. No? damn.
Good bye.
Laddie.
Hope you and Scott, Steph and Don had a happy new years! It was cold up here -- the wind oy! It cancelled the fireworks downtown! -Shawn
