Back in Elizabath City - The Harbor of Hospitality

We spent yesterday in Elizabeth City, unwinding from our previous long, crazy, 14 hour, Albemarle Sound-crossing day. It was threatening rain, but Scott hadn't eaten fast food in months, so we walked the mile or to McDonald's. The route took us along Main Street, that we'd missed before. It was lined with many large, old houses, most of which had been rehabbed. On the walk back to the boat, we took a different route and passed a Dairy Queen, so Scott got to satisfy his ice cream craving(not much room for that in our boat freezer), and we missed a ouring rainstorm while inside. We stopped again to buy some fresh shrimp, and walked back to the boat in drizzling rain, Just as we got back on board Seascape the sky opened up...good timing!

When the rain stopped, we called Farm Fresh, the local grocery store. They will come pick you up so you can shop, and then drop you back off when your're finished. We stocked up on water and a few final items, to hold us until we get home. The sun came out, and the afternoon was beautiful.

For dinner, we went to the Carolina Theater, only three blocks from the pier. It's a restored movie theater with one, large screen. There are three levels of tables and chairs, and then a section of regular theater seats. The ticket office opens at 6pm(not a minute earlier, we were told), and you purchase your 6.00pp ticket for the movie. You then head inside to be seated at a table for dinner service.

Each table has a phone. All orders are placed by dialing zero on the phone, and calling in what you'd like. They offer appetizers, salads, sandwiches, entrees, and a page long list of sundaes! There is also a whole page of regular movie concession choices(popcorn, candy, etc). They also offer beer and wine. Service begins as soon as you're seated, and you may order up until 30 minutes after the movie begins at 7pm.

Our food was good, better than we actually expceted. The chairs are on wheels, so when the movie started, Scott and I could swing our seats next to each other, and face the screen. It was a neat experience, something fun and different!

Here are some pictures we took throughout our day in Elizabeth City.
