We fought our final battle with the wind on this trip, and are now tied to our home pier! The winds were forecasted to be light from the north, and then switch to south, becoming stronger. When we came out of the Yeocomico, and into the Potomac, the winds were EAST, and coming right at us at a pretty good clip..go figure! The first few hours of our journey were a bit rough, and I seriously considered whether or not I could do 12-14 hours of this!
Luckily, the winds died down, and for most of the trip, the bay was lake-like calm. We took turns at the wheel, and Scott got in a good nap. When it's that calm, you can walk away to use the bathroom, or get a drink, etc., without worrying. The amount of boat traffice was mostly non-existent. Aside from the occasional fishing boat, there were just a few ships passing by us once in awhile.
We made better time than expected, and at about 5pm, we passed under the highest bridge of our trip(and the longest, after the seven mile bridge in the keys), the Chesapeake Bay Bridge... now we were really in the homestretch! As we approached our cove, the winds were kicking up out of the south pretty good. We were glad to have made such good time, and to be getting off of the bay. The channel leading into our cove has shoaled(filled)in quite a bit, so we followed small poles that our commercial crabbing neighbors, and Scott, have placed to mark where to go. Add to that the fact that we were coming in at low tide, and it made for an interesting last few yards. We had only inches below the boat while in the channel, and heard the clink clink of clam shells that our propeller stirred up as we came toward our slip!
Being gone for almost six months didn't affect Scott as he easily slid Seascape back into her slip at the pier. We got tied up just as the rain started. Before it came down too hard, we walked up to check on the house...all was just as we left it. We'll take the next few weeks to open up the house, move back in, and get the yard straight. Scott has a big to-do list for all of his boats, but that will come a bit later. For now, we are just enjoying, and readjusting, to being home! Here are the last few pictures we took on yesterday's journey home.

Welcome Home Guys. We arrived in Turkey on Monday and got Chatelaine launched into the water this morning. Fitted her new aft deck dodgers in white and she looks pretty swell. Waiting for her new genoa to arrive now while we catch up with old friends around Marmaris marina. More soon.
Love Sue and Mick xxxx
