Some Final Thoughts...

Our trip has been amazing! It went so fast, and we can't believe that we're already back at home!
There are so many things that we experienced, but just to touch on a few:

People: Along the way, we met some amazing people. It was so interesting to hear stories of where people are from, and what brought them on their journey. At times, strangers offered help when we needed it but least expected it, reassuring us that the world is a kind place. Some of these people have turned into wonderful new friends, who we will keep in touch with for years to come.

Places: We thoroughly enjoyed visiting the many towns along the way. Whether we were at a marina, or took the dinghy in from an anchorage, it was great to explore each location. We learned something new at each stop, as most locations hold so much history. The many restaurants and dives were also fun to find and enjoy. Each area had it's own feel and it was neat to take it all in. We can now make some great recommendations for weekend get-aways!

Sights: There was definitely no shortage of interesting sights along the way. I cannot count the amount of times one or the other of us said.."Oh my God, look at that!" Most of the time, it was said to point out the latest monstrously large waterfront house. We also saw some neat looking boats, yard art/sculptures, signs, and animals. I thought the trip home would be a bit mundane, that we'd already seen it all. I was wrong, and we continued to see photo-worthy things every day!

For Scott, the journey was a great opportunity to learn so many new things, helping him to start off in the direction of a new career. This education came not only from the class he took at Chapman, but also from our many weeks of travel on the water. There were many different types of situations to react to and learn from: high tidal ranges, strong currents, WIND, WIND, WIND, changing weather patterns, other boaters, and the occasional mechanical hiccup from our boat. I know he has gained a lot of pride and confidence in himself as a result of the past few months. I would trust him on any voyage, in any boat.

As for me, I learned a lot more about how our boat works, and to be more comfortable behind the wheel. I am also more efficient with helping to tie up to docks and piers, which makes Scott's life a lot easier. I learned the best day-to-day routine for us, and settled into life aboard more easily than I expected. I also learned that I enjoy writing very much!

I have enjoyed blogging about our travels and posting our many pictures. It seemed a great way to bring our friends and family along for the ride, and we hope that you have enjoyed reading about the trip half as much as we enjoyed taking it! Now that we have been bitten by the cruising bug, we are already planning our next journey, and will keep you in the loop when it happens. Until then, we look forward to the warm summer months ahead, and time spent visiting and catching up with all of you!

Much love, and hope to see you soon!

Caroline & Scott
